The ‘Amphibian’ Tailgate/Wheel Bag is another evolution of our Outback Wheel Bag range and is a formidable addition to our bomb-proof collection.

This bag is designed to work as either a tailgate bag, spare tyres/wheel or are also perfect for caravan stone guards. The complete package for people who tow a caravan with a ute!

Each bag comes with a backing plate which protects the paint of your car. If you want 100% paint protection we highly advise getting an invisible vinyl wrap in the area the bag will be placed.

We now use YKK zippers which are widely regarded as the best in the industry. They’re known for their durability, smooth operation, and resistance to wear and tear. YKK controls the entire production process—from smelting the metal to manufacturing the final product—which ensures high quality and reliability.

2. What zipper do you use and is it reliable?

All our current bags use YKK racquet coil zippers which are are heavy-duty nylon zippers with an oval-shaped coil and reinforced stitching that protects the thread. They are stronger, more durable, and smoother (and more expensive) than standard YKK zippers (which most manufacturers use when they state they have YKK zippers). YKK racquet coil zippers are built to withstand rough use in luggage, backpacks, tents, and outdoor gear.

3. Will the canvas on these bags fade?

For our 3.0 versions of the bags, no. The canvas used in our bags is specifically designed to withstand harsh Australian conditions. It features a fade-proof fabric that has been independently ISO lab tested to achieve a Blue Wool Scale rating of 8, which is considered excellent for UV resistance.

This means the material holds its colour extremely well over time, even with prolonged sun exposure.

Our 2.0 bags canvas will naturally fade over time when exposed to sunlight and the elements. Some areas may fade faster than others depending on sun exposure, but overall the colour evens out over time.

To slow fading, store your bag out of direct sunlight when possible or cover the bag if left outside for long periods.

Fading is purely cosmetic and won’t affect the strength or durability of the bag — it will continue to perform just as well as the day you bought it.
