The Scribbly Gum is unlike anything else in the Echidna range — or the market. Where most storage bags strap onto a tyre, the Scribbly Gum slides onto aluminium sailtracks riveted to your ute canopy, toolbox or anything else suitable, creating a permanent, rattle-free installation that's as clean as it is bombproof. 55 litres, 600gsm ISO fade-proof & waterproof canvas, 840gsm internal PVC lining, YKK racquet coil zippers — and everything you need to install it ships in the box.
How sailtrack mounting works
No straps. No buckles. No rattle. Just slide and lock.
Sailtracks are aluminium extrusions used in the marine and awning industries — known for their strength, zero-rattle retention, and clean aesthetic. Two 50cm aluminium sailtracks are riveted to your canopy wall or toolbox (or any other suitable structure), and the bag's integrated keder strip slides in from the end and locks in place. Removal is just as fast — slide out, done. Check out our install video here.
STEP 01
Rivet the tracks
Drill and rivet the 2 × 50cm aluminium sailtracks to your tub or canopy using the SS316 stainless rivets included
STEP 02
Slide the bag in
Feed the bag's keder strip into the sailtrack from the open end — like threading a sail into a mast
STEP 03
Lock in place
We recommend drilling a holes at the ends of the sailtrack where the keder strips slide into and locking the bag in place with screws or rivets or cable ties
STEP 04
Remove in seconds
Slide the bag back out from the open end whenever you need to access the tub or remove for cleaning
01 — Exterior
600gsm. Fade-proof. The 3.0 standard.
600gsm hard-coated waterproof canvas with ISO Blue Wool Scale 8 fade-proof certification — the same exterior spec as The Outback 3.0 and Amphibian 3.0. Built to sit permanently on your canopy/toolbox year-round without bleaching out, sagging, or degrading. The integrated keder strip along the top edge is stitched directly into the canvas — no separate hardware to lose or misalign.
02 — Interior
50 litres. A bin fits perfectly.
An 840gsm PVC waterproof lining keeps your gear dry and your tub clean. At 55 litres (52×42×25cm), the Scribbly Gum holds an Ezy Storage Slim Line 30L bin with room for extra gear. The removable trucker mesh internal bag (included free) velcros inside for camp rubbish separation — pull the whole thing out in one motion at your next stop.
The Ezy Storage Slim Line Rubbish Bin 30L fits perfectly — a permanent rubbish station in your tub.
03 — Side pockets
Quick-access mesh pockets on both sides.
Two external mesh pockets — one on each side of the bag — give you quick access to smaller items without opening the main compartment. Gloves, recovery shackles, a recovery strap, tyre gauge, snacks — keep them separate and reachable. A drainage eyelet in the base means no moisture pooling, even in sustained rain.
04 — Hardware
SS316 stainless. Marine-grade. Zero rust.
The 8 included rivets are SS316 stainless steel — the marine-grade alloy used in saltwater boat hardware. They will not rust, corrode, or fail in coastal or outback conditions. The aluminium sailtracks are pre-drilled for installation. Everything needed to mount the bag ships in the box — no hardware store run required.
A standard rivet gun is all you need to install. You should be able to complete the installation in under 15 minutes.

What is a sailtrack and how does the mounting work?
A sailtrack is an aluminium extrusion channel used widely in the marine, awning, and caravan industries. A keder strip is a flexible rope-like bead which is sewn into the edge of the bag. The keder strips slide into the sailtrack channel from the open end, where it grips and locks the bag in place without straps, buckles, or brackets. Two 50cm sailtracks are riveted to your tub wall or canopy using the included SS316 stainless rivets. Installation is a one-time job; after that, loading and removing the bag takes seconds.
We recommend drilling a holes at the ends of the sailtrack where the keder strips slide into and locking the bag in place with screws or rivets or cable ties
What tools do I need to install the sailtracks?
A standard rivet gun, a 4.9/5mm drill bit, and an electric drill. All are available at any hardware store. 8 x SS316 rivets and 2 x aluminium sailtracks are included in the box. The install should take under 15 mins. A step-by-step installation guide ships with the bag.
Check out our install video here.
Will the sailtracks damage my canopy/toolbox?
The installation requires drilling and riveting, this is a permanent modification. The holes are small (4.9mm) and the SS316 rivets are corrosion-proof, so there's no rust risk. If you'd prefer a non-permanent mounting option for your tub, consider The Amphibian 3.0 which uses straps and buckles.
What plastic bin fits in The Scribbly Gum?
The Ezy Storage Slim Line Rubbish Bin 30L fits perfectly inside the Scribbly Gum with room to spare for additional gear. The 52×42×25cm interior accommodates the slim rectangular profile of that bin well. Available from most camping stores and online retailers.
How does the Scribbly Gum compare to The Outback 3.0?
They share the same canvas spec, ISO fade rating, YKK zippers, and PVC lining — but serve very different purposes. The Outback 3.0 is a spare wheel bag that straps onto your tyre. The Scribbly Gum is a tub bag that mounts permanently to your canopy/toolbox etc on sailtracks — no tyre required. If you need a spare wheel bag, choose The Outback. If you want a permanent, rattle-free tub storage solution, The Scribbly Gum is the right call. See the full comparison table in the Dimensions tab.
