Where our wheel bags are built broad, The Koala is built specific — one bag, one job: protecting your Starlink Standard Gen 3 kit on every adventure. 520gsm canvas exterior, open cell foam and marine-grade carpet interior, size 10 YKK weather-sealed zippers, a dedicated canvas pouch for the dish, and three heavy-duty mesh pockets for the router, cable, and mount. The interior — different from everything else in the range

Thick open cell foam absorbs shocks and vibrations during transit. Protects the dish from hard knocks on corrugated roads and rough terrain.

520gsm hard-coated waterproof canvas wraps the outside — the same abrasion-resistant fabric standard used across the Echidna range. It handles whatever the back of a vehicle, a storage drawer, or an outdoor adventure can throw at it. The bag is shaped specifically to hold the Gen 3 dish and accessories without unnecessary bulk.
02 — Interior Protection
Foam and carpet. Not PVC.
Unlike the rest of the Echidna range, The Koala doesn't use a PVC lining. It uses something more appropriate for sensitive equipment: thick open cell foam base for shock absorption, topped with marine-grade carpet to hold the dish in place and prevent surface contact damage. Your Gen 3 hardware is protected from every direction.
Marine-grade carpet is also easy to brush clean if grit or dust gets in — far easier than a rubberised PVC lining on gear you'd rather not scratch.
03 — Organisation
One pouch for the dish. Three pockets for everything else.
A snug canvas pouch holds the Gen 3 dish securely — no rattling, no sliding. Three separate extra-strong mesh pockets sit alongside it for the router or power brick, the power cable, and the mounting hardware. Everything has a place. Everything travels together.
The mesh pockets stretch to accommodate the router and cable without folding or cramming — a small detail that matters every time you pack up camp.
04 — Zippers
Size 10 YKK. With a weather cover.
Size 10 is the heavy-duty grade in the YKK range — the largest and most robust coil zipper available. On top of that, each zipper comes with a weather and dust-proof protective cover, keeping dust, sand, and moisture out of the mechanism. This matters on the road, and even more so in the Australian outback.

Is this compatible with my Starlink? Which version fits?
The Koala V4 is designed specifically for the Starlink Standard Gen 3 dish and its full accessory set. It is not compatible with the Starlink Mini — that dish is smaller and would float loose inside The Koala. For the Starlink Mini, see The Gumnut. If you're unsure which Starlink model you have, the Gen 3 Standard is the larger flat rectangular dish (approx. 30cm × 26cm).
Why does this bag use foam and carpet instead of PVC lining?
PVC lining is ideal for rubbish, wet gear, and muddy equipment — which is why we use it in our wheel bags. But for sensitive electronics like a Starlink dish, open cell foam and marine-grade carpet is the right choice. The foam absorbs shocks and vibrations during transit, and the carpet provides a non-scratch surface that holds the dish in place. It's also much easier to brush clean if grit gets in.
What exactly fits in the three mesh pockets?
The three extra-strong mesh pockets are sized for: Pocket 1 — the Starlink Gen 3 router or power brick; Pocket 2 — the power cable; Pocket 3 — the mounting hardware and any additional accessories. Each pocket uses heavy-duty mesh with reinforced stitching that won't tear under the weight of a fully loaded router or cable bundle.
What makes the size 10 YKK zippers special?
Size 10 is the largest, most heavy-duty grade in the YKK coil zipper range. It's significantly stronger and smoother than the standard size 5 YKK zippers used on most outdoor bags. On The Koala, each zipper also has a weather and dust-proof protective cover — a rubber guard over the coil that keeps dust, sand, and moisture out of the mechanism. This is particularly important in outback conditions where fine red dust gets into everything.
Will the dish fit with a cover on it?
The canvas pouch is shaped to the Starlink Gen 3 dish dimensions without a cover. If your dish has an aftermarket cover that significantly increases its thickness, it may be a tighter fit. We'd recommend removing any bulky covers before placing the dish in the pouch. If you're using a thin protective film or skin, it will fit without issue.
